En / 13 cities of the future have set very ambitious demands on the relationship between comfort, architecture, business and co2 emissions. The most extensive project is Lierstranda – a brand new CO2 neutral district, twice the size of Carlsberg and in commuting distance to Oslo.
The city faces the bay and accumulates in dense phase-able enclaves, which releases large areas for recreation. Each phase has its own character. The district is planned with functional and areal gravity at a new station. This is where a bicycle highway meets bus routes and the rail. There is also extensive parking for those traveling here to take the train onward. The vision for the city is (as always) done in building and human scale.
A large green for large movements is placed as an oasis between the city center (with a station square in the very center) and the water. In other locations buildings are placed with the facade in the water like canal cities. To the east the city is phased out and gives way in favor of a production landscape – Lier, Norway’s pantry.
